Centre for Orangutan Protection had sent a complain letter to Roundtable Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) as regards land clearing activities of its members, Indofood and Bumitama Agri Ltd. Both are the RSPO members that are threatening orangutans because of their land clearing activities in Central Kalimantan and East Kalimantan.
The forests, that be cleared for palm oil plantations belong to those companies, are High Conservation Value Forest (HCVF), which are important habitat for wildlife including orangutans, proboscis monkeys, gibbons, and sun bears.
RSPO chooses not to answer the letter and let its members to continue bulldozing orangutans’ home. RSPO should response any complaint whether it is conveyed by its member or non-member. RSPO should act proactively.
