The sudden closure of Coleford Post Office without consultation as set out in The royal Mails Charter has not been adhered to when in fact they were informed in October 2017 the leaseholders had given notice to quit and were pre-pared to stay put Until August 2018 to enable suitable premises to be sought. The Post Office took the decision to give 10 working days notice of this closure claiming the postmaster had resigned. This post office has in fact not had a post master for several years and as a result the leaseholder has now decided to quit early. Many elderly residents face a trip by bus to use these services offered which could either be a 2 bus connection journey to the nearest branch or a possible 3hr round trip by bus to other alternative branches.
