Why this petition matters

Started by Rachna Udasi

This is a petition to aid the final (third) year management students at Royal Holloway who graduate in the coming months of 2021.

The essential purpose of the best 90 credit policy introduced in 2020 was to curb or cushion the academic difficulties and their impact on academic record created by the pandemic that struck. Today, the pandemic still looms over us as a threat just as large if not more impactful as we head into yet another lockdown.

The unfairness of the situation comes from the fact that the current third year students, preparing for the largest academic chunk of their degree are not being given a safety net even though the problems that brought it to them last year remain constant.

Although it has been stated by the university that assessment and teaching have been modified with the goal of pandemic support, workload remains of equal volume and level of difficulty as before. With the third year being of more weightage that all the other years combined, the case for the safety net’s necessity becomes all the more valid.

With the hope of everyone making it through the pandemic with an unscathed academic record and the ability to get a job or acceptance into further studies, we request the Royal Holloway University of London to give us their consideration and sympathy and help us get through these horrid pandemic induced times.
