The entire course of PR1000 is fundamentally flawed. It is the opinion of the signatories of this petition that the course is better taught as an intensive topic in the second or third year in association with how to write a dissertation. The skills learned in the first year should provide a wide base to establish further specialised knowledge from, not a niche topic that will be useful in the future but likely forgotten by the students by the time it is applicable. The course is disjointed, the seminars unhelpful and despite the best intentions of the department and the strong efforts made by the Lecturers, deeply problematic.
