Petition to re-evaluate the uniform policy within RGTS
Petition to re-evaluate the uniform policy within RGTS
Why this petition matters
This petition is to convince the Senior Leadership Team at RGTS to be more lenient and understanding with the uniform policy as there has been some unfairness with some aspects of what students here are allowed to wear. We should be allowed to voice our opinions on the uniform without fear of clashing with members of staff or facing punishment. This will also hopefully help start up a discussion in other schools on whether or not certain rules regarding uniform are actually beneficial to the students, or are just put in place to control them unnecessarily.
Students have been put into internal and external exclusion for having nose studs. The main issue here is that there wasn't a rule on nose studs until recently, meaning that students who have had the piercing for years are now being forced to remove them, running the risk of them closing up and/or scarring. Students who are unable to remove their studs for cultural or health reasons have had their needs completely disregarded and ignored, still being severely punished and missing out on their education in the process.
The issue has been dealt with horrendously, with even parents complaining about the injustice, and something needs to change.
