Haywood County Board of Education ruled that students, vaccinated or not, will not be required to wear masks. On top of that ruling, remote learning is not an option. This is a direct threat to the students under 12 that can’t be vaccinated, the disabled and those most vulnerable among our population. As the delta variant surges and cases here increase, covid precautions must be taken. Please sign this petition to let the school board know you care about your community and the students that live here. Young people need protection. The disabled need protection. Even those not listed above need protection as there is a lot unknown regarding COVID-19. Remote learning must be an option at the very least. My sister is returning to school and even though she is vaccinated, I am still concerned about the people she could give it to. So many in our county remain unvaccinated and unmasked. If that is their right, is it not also the right for students to stay safe and at home?
