Donna Iarocci started this petition to Roxbury Lane LP

August 3, 2020

For the past several years there have been numerous requests for increased security for the two N. Kenmore and N. Edgemont buildings. From vandalized cars in the parking lot, unhoused persons roaming the property, laptops stolen from forced entry through a window, to the most recent disturbing incident this morning, we residents are requesting swift action be taken by Roxbury Lane LP.  Property Manager Martin Lumpert had been in communication on this matter, however, now that the exterior painting is essentially completed, we are hoping for a prompt response and implementation.

A considerable amount of time ago, some residents began asking for an increase in security to past Property Manager Ryan Doyle. His response was that "the owner didn't like the look of an entryway gate" and left it at that. Since that time, crime has increased in the neighborhood, and we have been casualties.

In the early morning hours of Thursday, July 9th, Los Angeles Police Department helicopters began circling our residences. Gunshots were heard on Edgemont, and when one of our residents from the N. Kenmore side exited his property, he saw an armed man rush past our complex. This individual was then suspected to be hiding in our courtyard, carport, and in the stairwells of the basements. After 45 minutes of the helicopter circling, officers began knocking on doors and speaking with residents. It was frightening and unsettling. One officer noted that the chair at the rear entry of 1907 N Edgemont was turned over, recognizing the intruder had indeed been present.

At 6:00 this morning, Monday, August 3rd, an unhoused person made his way onto the property of N. Kenmore Avenue and began knocking on doors, rifling through a box on the porch of 1908, and speaking incoherently.

As tenants who pay a considerable monthly rent, we feel these instances warrant additional security. Although we appreciate the security lights that are currently installed, many still do not detect motion, and are certainly not a deterrent. Some residents have recommended security cameras, while others request additional forms of protection.

We, the neighbors in solidarity at N. Kenmore Avenue and N. Edgemont Avenue are asking to please secure the front entry swinging doors, the passage alley swinging doors, the metal side gates and also the car entryway so we can feel safe in our homes.

Thank you in advance and we are grateful for your consideration.
