A dog free zone applies to part of Camber Sands from May till October. Dogwalkers are compliant and understand the need to prioritise the large number of visitors during the summer season in the interests of health and wellbeing for all.

Up to May 1 local residents observing the current lockdown have been able to walk to the sands to exercise dogs at safe distances from each other. For many, this is the only exercise being taken.There is evidence that those responsible for ensuring compliance with existing prohibition are taking a heavy handed approach to the issue, causing real upset to elderly and vulnerable residents. 

This petition asks for the temporary suspension of the prohibition for dogwalkers in the interests of commonsense and the wellbeing of residents. An influx of visitors from outside the area is not only unlikely, it is also currently prohibited.

Please make this exception and grant dogwalkers free access to the beach until such time as carparks are reopened and general access is restored.
