Christa Turnell started this petition to rotary club and

Durango needs more than one dog park. For people on the north end of town, the parking and logistics of taking dogs to the park can make it impossible. Adding a dog park in the 2900 block of Holly makes perfect sense.
The empty field could be fenced ( allowing for deer to pass through) a layer of top soil would stabilize the ground from moving and glass migration would stop. Adding grass and some trees could reclaim this former dump. We are asking Home Depot and Lowe’s in Farmington to help with donations of materials. We also anticipate that most dog owners would donate $10 to $20 dollars to help with upkeep and cleanliness. Parking could be accommodated on the 29th street, as well as Holly Avenue and perhaps the LDS church lot except for Sunday mornings. Fencing would help comply with Durango’s antiquated dog code and dogs could run off leash. The location is easily accessible and adds character to the neighborhood surrounding it. Additionally this park would be open for other uses and maintained as a community park.  Adding a community feel to the north end and a much needed park would complete the 32nd Street and Florida Road neighborhoods. Membership could help maintain this new park and dog owners at least would have an essentially vested interest
