CRICKHOWELL HIGH SCHOOL NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!

Crickhowell is ranked as the sixth best state secondary school in Wales. It has been identified as one of the UK's top performing schools in the Sunday Times Schools Guide 2019.

BUT:

Crickhowell High School has the lowest per pupil funding by far in the whole of Wales. Its per pupil funding is almost £300 less per pupil than any other secondary school in Powys or Wales.

Today, Crickhowell High School gets less money per pupil than it did in 2010. Every other secondary school in Powys has had a per pupil increase in funding of at least 6% and the average for Powys is 12%. But Crickhowell has had a cut of 2%.

The Director of Education in Powys has admitted that the current funding formula is not compliant with Welsh Government regulations. And he's admitted that the formula has significantly increased the deficit at Crickhowell High School by over £340,000.

Now Powys County Council is saying that the school's finances are being mismanaged (an accusation the Governors absolutely reject) and is threatening to take over the financial running of the school. The school is being punished for being successful and growing.
