The Roseland Board of Education is going to be holding a meeting on Wednesday 16th, where they will be discussing the change of the quarter system. Their plan is to go back to the semester system where students will have to take all eight of their classes in a week. I'm a Junior in RUP and I'm here to speak up for all the students in favor to keep the quarter system.

Students have had the semester system before the pandemic started, and a lot of them did not like it at all. Students felt stressed and crammed with big workloads of homework from each class. Not only was their mental health affected but their grades showed a decrease as well. When students came back to school for the first time after the pandemic shut everything down, we went into the quarter system. The quarter system is divided into four sections. For example Quarter 1, Quarter 2, Quarter 3, and Quarter 4. Every few months they switch to the next quarter so students would only have to take the same four classes in a week and then switch to their other four classes the next quarter. Many students are much happier and less stressed out with this new system. They are able to focus more on each class since they don't have to worry about all of them at once. You can take me as a example. I went from D's and F's my Freshman and Sophomore year to a 4.33 GPA. I believe the quarter system is responsible for such change. This goes with majority of my classmates as most of them got High Honor Roll and Honor Roll this year. This new system has also benefited some teachers by giving them less work, like grading hundreds of assignments and preparing well for their classes.

If you would like to help, please sign this petition to try to convince the District Board to keep the Quarter System that has been so good to us.
