Property owners, Residents and Business owners of the Southeast Roseburg area and the Downtown business core, would like to ask,
The Roseburg Rescue Mission to please consider relocating out of the downtown core area.
Please respect the signers of this petition.
The intention is to bring awareness to the influx in transits within our Downtown Roseburg Historic District and Business Core.
The vision, to see the men shelter relocated to a larger, cleaner, updated facility for their increased number of visitors. Just as the Roseburg Rescue Mission, decided to relocate the woman's shelter (The Samaritan Inn) from Downtown, Jackson St to their new awesome location behind Roseburg Grocery Outlet.
Having moms closer to the school is helping many stay together and the kids to stay in school all while having a safe, clean facility that meets their needs as well as the desire of the downtown core community.
What we are hoping to accomplish is the relocation of the Roseburg Rescue Mission, perhaps somewhere off Diamond Lake Blvd just as the Greyhound Bus Station has choose to do recently. Or, adjacent to Lowe's Home Improvement, closer to the hospital and grocery store options.
End result. Less transit number condensed in our Downtown Roseburg Historic District and Business Core area.
As the shelter grows and has over the last 50 years. The downtown property does not. The Roseburg Rescue Mission, has simply "outgrown" their original location. The impact to the immediate neighborhood is concerning and those residents and business owners want help. I hope I answered your questions, and I ask you for your support.
