This is a blatant racist decision. Our Indigenous People need and deserve the same access to medical
care. We took their land, we’ve appropriated their culture, we stole their medicine, and denied them their language and traditions. No more. The right thing is to do all we can to see she gets the care she needs.

Everyone deserves a chance if they can be helped. Discrimination has no place in medicine.

cher gouvernement canadien, combien vos chères compagnies ont-elles fait de milliards en noyant les autochtones dans l'alcool? Il est temps d'assumer vos responsabilité. Aidez cette jeune femme!

It doesn't sound as though Ms. Saunders' overall health precludes the surgery itself, and I don't agree with essentially sentencing her to die for substance abuse issues, especially when she's sought treatment for them already, has been wait-listed for more extensive treatment, and in my opinion has more than earned an exception to a rule that while it might sound reasonable in a vacuum, in practice is essentially systemic racism.

(Also, although they're thankfully back on now, I've had a friend get kicked off the kidney transplant list for weed use, so I'm not big on "must be clean by *our* rules" policies overall).
