Andrew Smith started this petition to Governor of Florida Ron Desantis and

Manatee and Sarasota county residents are sick and tired of the continuous traffic nightmare on I-75.  I-75 needs to be at least ten lanes of travel (5 north/ 5 south) from the county line of north Manatee to the southern border of Sarasota county. Adding two more lanes of travel in both directions will allow for better traffic flow in our growing community.  This will cut down on time for working daily commuters.  Three major road improvements have been conducted with two of them being completed, and one that is almost finished.  These three major projects have costed the tax payers millions of dollars and they have done absolutely nothing to ease the burden of traffic on I-75.

University interchange was completed in 2018 with a cost of Cost: $78,432,970.14.  This interchange construction did not benefit the north/south traffic on I-75. There are still only six lanes of travel for north/south traffic.  Six lanes of travel (3 North and 3 South) do not help with the massive influx of daily traffic.  https://www.roadsbridges.com/no-7-i-75university-parkway-ddi

SR 64 Project was completed in 2019 at a cost of $44,233,584.54.  This project did widen the roadway if you are exiting I-75 but it did do anything for lanes of travel over SR64.  There are still only six lanes of travel for north/south traffic.

SR 70 interchange project is almost completed costing $71,600,190.50.  As you have noticed they did not do anything to improve north/south traffic flow.  If anything this project has caused more traffic to build up and more accidents in that area.

We need to move ahead now and not wait until 2035/2040 to go through more construction.  What we are doing now is just wasted construction.

All three major exits in Sarasota are slated to be redesigned.  Now is the time to expand I-75 now while everything is being redesigned.  These roads need to be done right the first time.  It will end up costing tax payers billions of dollars in future cost if they have to completely redo the same construction 15 years from now.  Lets get ahead of the future traffic and expand now

If you agree that I-75 needs to be at least ten lanes of travel each way then please sign this petition. Expanding  to ten lanes of travel will add two more lanes both directions. We can save billions of dollars now by expanding the I-75 now and not have to do it in the future. The three Manatee county projects have costed $194,266,744 and we have had no change from the traffic on I-75. 301/I75 is projected to cost $138,000,000 and it does not add any more lanes of travel for north south traffic.

Please help me and all the users of I-75 and lets get I-75 to be widen at the same time they are working on each interchange.
