Mari Jean started this petition to Governor Ron DeSantis

The sun sets in Florida's panhandle almost an hour behind the rest of the major cities in central time zone. For example when the Sun is setting in Dallas Texas at 8:39 p.m. or sunset in Green lake Wisconsin is 8:32 p.m. the sunset in Panama City is at 7:49 p.m.

Meanwhile in Eastern Time zone sunset in Jacksonville Florida is at 8:33 p.m. and in Washington DC it's at 8:37 p.m.

Just a 25 minute drive out of Panama City heading to Mexico Beach or in another direction towards Blountstown the time changes from central to Eastern. The hour difference in sunsets and sunrise from Panama City Florida to Dallas Texas that are both in the same time zone are so drastically different.

There should be no reason that Florida's panhandle has to lose an hour of precious daylight. This hour is critical and crucial to daily living and our inner cadence. People like my self that work 8a.m.-5p.m. lose daylight during the winter months, and can't even come home and cut their grass after work because it's already dark at 5:00 p.m. , it's time make all of Florida on the same time zone! Thank you for any and all consideration for this matter.
