Give Muslim and Hindu American Students days off on important religious holidays
Muslim and Hindu American students should get school days off for religious holidays such as Eid and Diwali. Every year, a lot of students have to take exams and even miss important school days because of school districts not giving Muslim and Hindu students days off. If we achieve our goal then many Hindus and Muslims can get days off on important holidays and finally feel acknowledged and have time to focus on their faith. As of right now, Our goal is for the Florida government to acknowledge this petition, have our holidays recognized on the school district calendar, and hopefully spread this nationwide. Holidays such as Diwali and Eid are very important for Muslims and Hindus and going to school during these holidays can make it hard to focus and reflect on these important days. Islam is the third largest religion in the United States with over 3.45 million Muslims in the US. Hinduism is the fourth largest religion in the U.S with over 2.5 million Hindus. All of us have to deal with the struggle of not seeing even one of our holidays on the school district calendar and hopefully, we can soon change that. We are planning to have this plan start off in Broward county public schools in Florida.
