Hunter Wright started this petition to Governor Ron DeSantis and

Let’s give our youth their outdoor activities back. This petition was created to get our kids back out playing sports, swimming, open parks, and any other outdoor activity that we as citizens have been stripped of. In the 9th amendment it states that rights not listed in the Constitution belong to the people not the government. In simplistic terms we the people are not just limited to the rights that are only stated in the Constitution. It should be up to us parents whether we want our kids to be out doing extra curricular activities. We can pack hundreds of people in Walmart, Lowe’s, Home Depot, restaurants, and many other places. Why can’t we practice social distancing at the baseball parks, football fields, soccer fields, pools, local parks, and the list goes on. During these activities it is very easy to practice social distancing. Parents can spread out and not sit on top of one another.  If people don’t want to allow their children out then that is their right as a US citizen. We need to get our kids out of the house and away from video games, TVs, cell phones, etc. Being stuck indoors weakens our immune systems. The only way for us to overcome this virus is to get out and and keep our immune systems strong. Most outdoor activities can be done with limited to no touching. Taking our youths outdoor activities away is taking their childhood memories away. For some athletes in high school this has taken their final chance to play a sport away. 90% of high school seniors will never play a sport again. I am asking Governor DeSantis and our state officials to please open back up our parks, sports fields, and any other outdoor activity that allows our youth to continue doing what they love and making memories.
