45 percent film tax incentive for the state of Florida!

The State of Florida was once one of the top states in the country to film in. Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore. So right now, I am calling for a statewide change for the Sunshine State. As a tax-paying citizen, I am tired of hearing that we are losing the opportunity to make money for this great state. Each community in the State of Florida has a film community; it is time for our voices to be heard and action to be taken!!
Since losing the Florida film incentive, film workers in Florida have had to leave their homes and move out of the state. The State of Florida has over five film programs that rank in the top 25 in the nation. However, with no film incentive, professors and institutions instruct their students to leave the state and work elsewhere. Unfortunately, that loses the state a workforce.
The State of Florida has lost over 2.9 billion dollars yearly due to the lack of a film incentive. That is correct 2.9 billion dollars! And knowing that we have lost so much, it is time for a change.
The incentive plan I am proposing would be a 45 percent film incentive tax with a local hire ratio of 90 percent for ten years effective immediately. Forty-five percent would be the most massive tax incentive in the UnitedStates to date. This incentive amount is only fitting for a state that is so great.
What is the solution?
The solution is to get the attention of Governor Ron Desantis and have him use his power as Governor to sign an Executive Order to bring back the film incentive immediately. The signing of the Executive Order will allow film companies to know that Florida is open for filming, and this will enable local companies to grow as well. The incentive will also allow the local universities to have an outlet for their film students to get jobs once they graduate.
The top questions, where would you build studios?
There are lands for sale throughout Florida from the North to the South. In the South part of Florida, we can build studios in Doral, Homestead, Coral Springs, Parkland, Miami Gardens, Tamarac, Key West, and Kendall. In the West, we can build studios in Tampa, Sarasota, Bradenton, Punta Gorda, Fort Myers, and Port Charlotte. In Central Florida, we can build studios in Orlando, Kissimmee, Winter Haven, Sanford, and De Land. In the North we can build studios in, Gainsville, Ocala, Dayton, Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Tallahassee, Live Oak, Panama City, and Pensacola.
Why 45 percent and a local hiring ratio of 90 percent?
Forty-five percent will allow each film company to pay their employees a fair wage. A 90 percent local hiring ratio will allow the local members of the film community to work and will enable local people to become either, writers, cinematographers, producers, and directors.
An example of how it would work: If a film company spends One million dollars in the state of Florida. The film company would get $450,000 back in taxes while the State would get back $550,000 in taxes. With the $450,000 that the film company would get, they would be able to pay employees and fund other projects within the State of Florida. With the amount the state would get, the state could fund better schools, better roads, and better housing.
Where do we go from here?
We have to have every single person in the film community to sign this petition. We also need signatures from the local governments from Keywest to Tallahassee, to show that they support this incentive plan.
By bringing back the film incentive, it will create jobs and will allow local businesses to thrive.
This incentive can also help develop better schools for our children, better roads, better affordable housing for people, create programs for single parents, and rehabilitate the homeless.
In the end, I am calling for every Floridian that wants a better Florida to sign this petition.
If the President of the United States can sign an Executive Order, so can Governor Ron Desantis of the great state of Florida!!
