Why this petition matters

Started by Laura Donaldson

Would you like to save the beautiful trees that are at the entrance of the Story City Track? With the renovation of the Roland-Story High School Field Track, there comes great opportunities to make the track a nicer place to participate in sports... that is, except for one problem. The current proposal for the track renovation has plans to take out the beautiful maple trees that line the entrance of the track. These gorgeous trees have been in our community for over 50 years, providing shade and beauty to all who are near them. They are a vibrant red in the fall, so they tie into the red and black Roland-Story colors perfectly. All who go to the many activities and sporting events located at the high school track are welcomed through the front gate by this lovely tunnel of trees. They are especially helpful in the hotter months when they provide the much-needed shade for the spectators that the track otherwise lacks. The new proposal plans to plant new trees in various spots, but otherwise has a serious lack of shade in the consideration. The loss of these trees at the entrance of the track would be a giant blow to the face of our community. Please sign this petition to let the track committee know that you want the trees to stay put!

Thank you!
