FIX CENTRAL PARK TOILETS & KEEP THEM OPEN, CLEAN AND SAFE FOR FAMILIES TO USE.

We the undersigned ask that:
Newham council refurbish and repair the toilets in Central Park and THEN maintain them regularly so they can be open every day and safe to use by all local residents, including small children and families.
If Newham Council cannot commit to this, we ask that they quickly agree a deal with The Larder (who currently run the Cafe) allowing them to own and maintain the toilets under the Community Toilets Scheme.
Central park toilets are in a permanent state of disrepair - poorly maintained, and often closed due to vandalism. When they are open, there is no CCTV or regular Enforcement officer there, so locals often report anti social behaviour taking place, or find them unclean and unusable.
This makes a beautiful park inaccessible to parents and young children who need access to a safe and clean toilet and baby changing facility.
It also directly affects the success of the Central Park Cafe as a community venue, because customers cannot stay any length of time before needing to leave to find a bathroom.
Given that Mayor Roksana Fiaz has pledged to support and nurture small business's in the area, we believe that both supporting the cafe and setting it up to succeed should be a high priority. Ensuring that local community facilities are maintained and remain accessible should also be at the top of the priority list - the cafe is committed to providing free community activities and the lack of safe, clean and working toilets will directly impact the business. The result will be that another community venue will end up closing (again).
So we are asking Rokhsana Fiaz to please FIX CENTRAL PARK TOILETS & KEEP THEM OPEN, CLEAN AND SAFE FOR FAMILIES TO USE.
