Why this petition matters

Started by Laveen Voters

Twenty years ago, ten acres of extremely valuable land in the heart of Laveen, were set aside for a Park.  The City of Phoenix has held the Deed to that land and control of its future all of that time.

The land remains a patch of dirt fenced off from access.  Rather than anchoring our community, it's a blight on the neighborhood.   Burrowing owls made it a home.  Otherwise the land has been nothing more than a nuisance.

We know the Great Recession hurt.  We know there are other important projects.  But we also believe that it is time that we finally made it to the top of the list of projects that should and must be funded.

The City of Phoenix has a tendency to forget that the happy, but small,  Lavee community is also part of the 4th largest City in the Nation.    Laveen is a great village that would could become even better than it already is if Phoenix would break loose some of the impact fees that have been paid in for decades.

Done right, neighborhood parks bring neighborhoods even closer together.  A housing development changes from a cluster of houses into a tight knit family of neighbors and friends.

Help us get this Park built.

We urge the City Phoenix Council to fund Rogers Ranch Park.
