Jennifer Hayes started this petition to Rogers County Zoning Commission

In my neighborhood chickens are not "permitted" for a RS-40 which means Residential Single.  I own 2.2 acres outside of the city limits.  Most of my neighbors have chickens but my next door neighbor complained.  I received a letter stating the requirement to vacate the chickens from the property within 15 days or serve jail time and/or a fine. ONLY "AGRICULTURE" zoning can possess poultry on their property.

I find it ironic that inside the city limits chickens are permitted as long as they are not restricted by an HOA.  I am asking Rogers County residents to join me in asking that zoning ordinances be updated so that those who chose to live rurally and keep chickens can do so without the threat of jail or fine.

Chickens are family friendly, sustainable sources of protein, adding to the health of gardens and those who eat the eggs.

Please show support for this change by signing the petition and show the county a united group of backyard chicken owners.
