Preston Devenish started this petition to Roger Goodell and

On Nov. 18, 2018, Smith was tackled in the backfield by the Texans. His right leg was caught at an awkward angle, and Smith suffered a compound fracture that broke both the tibia and fibula in his right leg.

Things were complicated for Smith as he worked on recovering from the injury due to an infection of flesh-eating bacteria after Smith's initial surgery. Following that first procedure to address the compound fracture, Smith needed 16 more surgeries before his leg could be fully on the way to recovery.

After fighting for his life as well as his leg for over a year. He was finally making forward progress, But still had a long road ahead of him  But Smith remained determined to return to the field. That moment came in Sunday’s Week 5 game against the Los Angeles Rams. Just ahead of the two minute warning in the first half, Smith entered an NFL game for the first time since that injury.

But he did not stop there! Alex led the Washington Football Team to an amazing victory over the previously undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers. And not only that, but with a 14-0 defecit to begin with.

Alex has been an outstanding example of courage and bravery. And is making the most of the moments he has on the field. We should award Alex with the award in 2020-2021 and, name the award after him. There is no more deserving football player than tbis amazing man!
