Why this petition matters

Started by Jacqui Edwards

Suicide is the leading cause of death in Australia for youths over 13. Suicide prevention is possible, with the correct support and attention required and provided by those in schools, parliament and prevention supporters.

Our goal from this petition is to help suicidal teens as best as possible, with the support from our state Minister for Health, Roger Cook, we believe that with their help and position of power, change can be made. Multiple teens are unsure on how to deal with suicide as a whole, therefore by informing teens through the Education System and informative advertisements, lives could be saved.

For every one suicide, there are 100-200 unsuccessful attempts. We need to ensure that teens have the access to support, knowledge and to know that they do not have to go through this alone.

By signing this petition, you are helping to raise awareness and capture the government’s attention to address the issue and encourage greater funding being directed into schools for suicide prevention programs.

Thank you for your support.
