3 beautiful murals that will continue to the development of the city as well as embellishing our greenway but most importantly our neighborhood.

THE 1 MINUTE SYNOPSIS:

The Wolftever Creek Greenway is a beautiful 4+ miles strip that bonds families and neighbors of the Collegedale/Ooltewah area. It offers a lot of interesting features for trail users, including the Imagination Station Playground, a Nature Nook, a dog park and a picnic area. In addition, you'll find artistically shaped benches, old wagon wheels, bicycles and plows made into planters and plenty of bird feeders. It is my dream to create 3 murals that will continue to unify and inspire our citizens and visitors as well as to contribute to the embellishment of the greenway.

UPDATE:

Great News!! On Tue, July 15th the Collegedale's Parks and Recreations Dept. accepted the mural proposal.

Sept. 11: City of Collegedale Director of Parks and Rec informed me that he received a letter from TDOT aproving the mural project.

Next steps: Parks and Recreations Dept will submit a recommendation to the city to approve the project.

We still need your support in spreading the word, the more signatures the more attention this project will receive.

ABOUT ME:

My name is Alex Loza and I'm a professional representational artist, portraitist, muralist and adjunct art professor at Lee University. In 2001 I obtained a BFA degree from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, IL. For the past 15 years I've been commissioned to paint numerous portraits for private art collectors throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America. During my stay in Chicago I've participated along other muralist in several projects around the city. Since 2012 I've been part of Mark Making art facilitator team. That year 20 local professional artists teamed up to mentored and worked along 20 Howard High School students in the  20/20 Vision Mural project located in the Riverfront Pkwy and 19th St. in Chattanooga. In 2013 I was one of the artists that volunteered in the recreation of Historic Engel Stadium outfield walls after the film "42". The Collegedale/Ooltewah area has been home for my family and I since 2010 and I'm counting with your approval and support to create this murals for our neighborhood.

THE PROPOSAL

 1. LOCATION

Murals will be located on the walls inside the bridges along the Wolftever Creek Greenway trail.

-The first mural will be located under the Ooltewah-Ringgold Rd bridge that leads to Veteran's Park. This mural will honor the brave men and women who served our nation in various wars.

-The second mural will be located inside the walls of the bridge next to the Imagination Station playground (across the library). This mural will depict the everyday outdoor activities seen in our community i.e. families walking, children playing, cyclists, runners, etc.

-The third mural will be painted under the bridge that supports the rail road tracks. This mural will honor our city's history of Native Americans and their culture.

2. PARTNERSHIPS

- Other Artists: I'll ask my local art students, my Lee University art students as well as local professional artists and art organizations to collaborate with this project.

- The Neighborhood: After transferring the mural designs onto each wall, I'll would like to have the community to volunteer their time and help paint along professional artists.

- Local Businesses and Organizations: I'm hoping that local businesses and organizations graciously donate funds, materials and/or provide snacks and bottled water for those who will be volunteering.

- Collegedale Parks and Recreation Department: This project cannot be possible without the city's approval and support. During the past years Collegedale has invested in the continuous transformation of our neighborhood.  The murals will be an addition to what the city has already accomplished.

The cost for each mural varies since the dimensions of all 3 walls are different. Ckick here and see our  wonderful perks and gifts. Your contribution will help us purchase materials for the murals as well as food for our volunteers. Any remaining funds will compensate my time.

Wolftever Creek Greenway Mural Project

My name is Alex Loza and I'm a professional representational artist, portraitist, muralist and adjunct art professor at Lee University. For the past 15 years I've been commissioned to paint numerous portraits for private art collectors throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America. During my time in Chicago I participated along other muralists in several projects around the city. In 2010, my family and I decided to relocate to Collegedale where I have offered art classes. In 2012, I become part of the Mark Making art facilitator team. That same year 20 local professional artists teamed up to mentor and work along 20 Howard High School students in the 20/20 Vision Mural project which is located in the Riverfront Pkwy and 19th St. in Chattanooga. In 2013, I volunteered in the restoration of Historic Engel Stadium outfield walls after the movie "42" was filmed in the stadium.

For the past four years my family and I have called the Collegedale/Ooltewah area home. My family and I enjoy what this city has to offer especially the diversity in the community and the outdoor resources. The city of Collegedale has already done so much in developing our community and having art as an addition will reflect the culture of family and unity. Therefore, I am counting on your approval and support in creating 3 beautiful murals that will continue to the development of the city as well as embellishing our greenway but most importantly our neighborhood.

Murals will be located on the walls inside the bridges along the Wolftever Creek Greenway trail. Below please find a brief description of each mural:

1. The first mural will be located under the Ooltewah-Ringgold Rd bridge that leads to Veteran's Park. This mural will honor the brave men and women who served our nation in various wars.

2. The second mural will be located inside the walls of the bridge next to the Imagination Station playground (across the library). This mural will depict the everyday outdoor activities seen in our community i.e. families walking, children playing, cyclists, runners, etc.

3. The third mural will be painted under the bridge that supports the rail road tracks. This mural will honor our city's history of Native Americans and their culture.
