Why this petition matters

Started by Pat Carroll

Silver Lake Pool serves a diverse population.

The Location is a direct benefit to those who live near by and beyond, servicing a part of the community with transportation and care challenges.

It serves at least 8 different community groups who reach underserved and underrepresented groups

Reduced capacity because of COVID will limit the ability for the aquatic system to service the community, provide an outlet for community members.

An open pool means on duty lifeguards and supervision, space to learn the lifelong and lifesaving skill to swim.

The Rochester Parks and Recreation Department wants to Close the Silver Lake Pool for ever and replace it with splash pads though out the city.  We feel splash pads only will service a small portion of our ever growing diverse population and does not give the opportunity to learn how to swim.

We would like to get the pool open this year and have it replaced in the future with an Aquatic facility with many more amenities to better serve the needs of our community.

Having splash pads and unguarded ponds for our citizens is embarrassing for a community of 150,000 when outlying smaller communities Have much nicer pools.

Please sign our petition to keep Silver Pool open and help get a aquatic facility the community can be proud of.

Thank You
