Supermarkets to give surplus food to Food Banks
This petition had 124 supporters
As part of our NCS The Challenge Social Action Project we (10, 15-17 year olds) want to raise awareness for our local food bank held at a café/restaurant called Pacific. We want to help this food bank by doing the following:
- raise awareness for this food bank and when/where to access it
- raise money for the food bank through a Sponsored Walk
- help supply food to food banks by creating consistent links with supermarkets
By signing this petition you will be helping us to raise this issue with local councils and the government to prioritize food banks. We hope this will encourage them to enforce companies, such as large superstores, to supply enough food for the food banks and in turn reduce excessive food waste, as well as putting more of their budget to food banks. This is to make sure that people of different poverty stricken backgrounds and situations can have access to food.
