Problem:  Poor surface - dirt, crushed stone dust

Impact on you and your dog:  UNHEALTHY - Dogs play and run creating huge clouds of dust which is breathed into the lungs. This may cause gagging, coughing, runny eyes and nose, and difficulty breathing as well as other serious health problems. In addition, dogs chase balls and the saliva from their mouth moistens the ball and then it is heavily coated with the dirt/stone dust which goes into the dog's mouth. Dogs sometimes become no longer interested in those balls after they are so dirty. In the rainy season, the dirt/stone dust is even a bigger mess for you and your dog which makes people less inclined to get together causing the opposite effect of what the dog park was trying to achieve of community, socialization and gathering.

Proposed solution: Pet Friendly Turf - Safe for pets, easy maintenance, sustainable, no dirt, no dust, no bugs (ticks, fleas, and mosquitos will not thrive on it), soft for dog's feet, excellent drainage (urine washes away in the rain), resilient, won't dry out in the sun, won't get muddy, no dangerous digging holes, and dogs pee and poop with ease. So many gorgeous dog parks are heading this direction in many other states...Bellevue WA deserves a dog playground like this!

Pet-friendly turf proposed only in the middle sections of the off-leash corrals. The whole park itself has tons of grass, trees, a pond, and trails...this is only proposed for the middle section to replace the dirt/crushed stone dust to make a clean area for people to play with their dogs off leash. It would be their dog playground. Pet-friendly turf has less of a carbon footprint on the environment than grass.
