Why this petition matters

Started by Lacey Sargent

A Public Hearing Notice was sent to residents of Middleton on January 28th regarding the consideration of building 50 residential lots and 10 common lots in a 16.71 acre location between Dewey Avenue and Middleton Road (located near the flour mill). This subdivision is in addition to a proposed subdivision of 900 homes to be built off of Hartley Lane. Our town has doubled in population over the last 10 years. Main roads are congested and schools are nearing their capacity. New subdivisions keep popping up before amenities and necessities are developed to accommodate the growth. The charm and character of our small town is being erased by track homes and this time they are being placed not on the outskirts, but in the heart of our town; in some of our literal backyards. I would like to propose that if development MUST take place in these parcels (R33892, R33888 and R33876), that the city considers putting in a pond, walking path and foliage. Something that will enhance the city that we live in and love, not add to the congestion and destruction of its natural essence. Please join me in signing this petition to fight this particular building application and consider showing up to the public hearing on February 14th at 5:30pm to show our City Planning and Zoning committee that we are willing to fight to protect the integrity of our town.
