We all know that community service hours are one of the high school requirements for a student to graduate and for different students, it can be difficult. During quarantine, I realized it was more difficult to do anything. Broward County School faculties were nice enough to understand that not a lot of students were going to complete the hours, so they did virtual opportunities. They also waved the requirement to get 40 hours. However, they inserted that you need 40 hours to have "bright futures."

Before the pandemic happened, it always bothered me how they forced this act on us and rarely have any activities to do in school to make up those hours. Some kids are not comfortable enough to go to places that are new to them or have transportation. It would make more sense to do it somewhere where they're already part of.

Obviously, the work is not being done DURING, but AFTER school like club activities. Students can clean up in and out the school property, help teachers with whatever work they need to do, help tutor other students, or join after-school meetings on how to help make changes around the school. Especially since all Broward school students are required to go back to physical school next year.

I care so much because I am struggling right now to complete my hours so I do not have to worry every second about this and feel guilty that I am not going to have a "bright future." I want other students to know that I feel the same way as them and they are definitely not alone in this. I want other grades behind me can have it easier than I did during my school years. Hopefully, we all can make a change with this petition :)
