I believe there should be no school the day after thanksgiving because after spending the day with your family and eating tons of food your really not going to have energy to give it your all at school or work. Also after spending the day with your family maybe some family members ate too much and do not have enough energy to drive themselves some so they might have to stay the night but school and work gets in the way of that.
