Why this petition matters

Please allow the students that are enrolled at the Africentic Alternative School, to continue their Africentic curriculum while doing virtual learning during the 2020/2021 school year.

A unique feature of Africentic Alternative School is the integration of the diverse perspectives, experiences and the history of people of African descent into the provincial mandated curriculum.

Because of Covid-19, alot of parents have decided to choose the virtual online learning vs sending their children/child back to school.

Because of this decision, we have been informed that our children/child will not have access to any Africentic curriculum, along with any assemblies or presentations. It's not just the educational impact, it's also the cultural impact. The children/child will be behind about racial identity and contributions from the African diaspora.

The reason for this petition, is that the families who chose to be apart of the virtual online learning, will not be able to continue with their Africentic learning. They will be grouped up with various students from different schools who also decided to do virtual online learning.

Please sign this petition, so that the Toronto District School Board can provide teachers who will teach the Africentic curriculum for students that are taking part in the virtual online learning.
