Protecting the Unprotected roadside memorial sites throughout the State of Maine

On Sept 11, 2010 my 15yr old son ( who was passenger in the car ) was killed in a horrific car accident. In April of 2011, just 7 months after his death, family members of the driver of the driver of the car took my sons Memorial Cross and BURNED it. Even though they admitted to this horrible act , I could NOT prosecute, nor could the Police do anything because there weren't/aren't any Laws in place in the State of Maine protecting these cherished and important sites. I am asking for a Law to be constructed that will provide protection of all roadside Memorial sites in the State of Maine by making it a Crime punishable up to a year in jail and a $2,000 fine to "tamper with or steal" a roadside Memorial within the first year of the death that it memorializes and to call it Austin's Bill , in honor of my son.
