Tasha Acosta started this petition to Representative Robert C. Scott and

Midway Manor maintenance technicians are overwhelmed, stressed and exhausted trying to keep up with the workload!  We see it when our technicians come to answer a call.  We see the slump in their shoulders.  We hear it in their exhausted and frustrated speech.  It’s time to stand together!  It’s time to come together as a community and fight for them, because if we fight for those who are too tired to fight for themselves, change will happen.

When a technician has reached the end of their rope, sometimes, their only option is to move on, leaving behind the mess that has been created decades before they arrived.  Midway Manor has seen technicians come and go, and with them, they take their knowledge of the issues we experience with our homes.

It’s time to elicit change!  It’s time to defend our maintenance staff and make our voices heard throughout the Lincoln Property Company.  When we do nothing, nothing changes.

We demand that our Midway Manor Housing office and maintenance staff are fully staffed and available to hear and respond to our grievances.  We demand our maintenance staff is paid in appropriate wages that meet the average salary for a general maintenance worker in Virginia Beach.

We demand our work orders be remedied and reconciled, as per our lease, within 24 hours for emergency service calls, one business day for urgent and routine service calls.

These demands cannot be met if Lincoln Property Company and Lincoln Military Housing cannot staff and compensate their employees appropriately.

If we don’t elicit change now, our community will fall victim to the plagues of so many other military housing communities.  We are already on the verge.
