My name is Saanvi Rao, I am a Girl Scout Cadette (Troop #71705) and I am working on my Silver award project called 'Sugar Proof' . The project spreads awareness about the ill effects of sugar. One of the first steps in cutting down sugar consumption is to sugar proof our homes and our community. I am calling for your help to petition our school system to sugar proof our schools and make sugary drinks inaccessible to children. Please sign the petition to ban Sugar Sweetened Beverages(SSB) from Robbinsville High School.

Did you know children are getting diseases typically associated with alcohol consumption without ever consuming alcohol? That's right! Type II Diabetes and fatty liver disease are just some of many diseases increasingly being observed in our younger population. Scientists have determined that the increased occurrence of these and other diseases in young people is because they are drinking a lot of Sugar Sweetened Beverages(SSB). Obesity and learning disability are associated with SSB consumption. Sugar also triggers anxiety, migraine, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, GERD and many more health problems.

Did you know a single can of SSB contains roughly DOUBLE of the recommended daily limit of added sugar? That's right, SSBs contain roughly about 10 teaspoons of sugar in a 300 ml can!! Our High School has vending machines, which contain sugary drinks like Snapple and Sports drinks. The easy access to these SSBs makes children consume many times the recommended daily intake limit of 6 teaspoons of added sugar per day.

Let us take one little step in the right direction to improve the physical and mental health of our future generation(s)!

Please help spread the word and make this a successful campaign. Thank you for your help!
