Students defending themselves shouldn't be suspended!

The current education policy has a zero tolerance to violence, which sounds great in theory, but if your child is bullied, attacked and when they're having punches thrown at them they fight back, they'll be suspended. It's not fair. Often bullies don't care if they're suspended and they're happy to take someone down with them. The policy needs to change. Being told by a principal that "if someone is hitting you cover your face, and don't hit back" is ridiculous. If you instigate the fight then you're gone, but if you start a fight and lose, too bad! You had it coming, it doesn't mean the kid defending him or herself should receive the same penalty as the instigator, which is what is happening now.
