Recently I have applied for summer school and discovered that in class attendance was MANDATORY to pass courses. This also applies to September as well according to the BC ministry of education.

This heavily affects me as a student as I have asthma, and Covid is especially deadly to people like me. I can guarantee others who are similar to me feel the same way.

We all know how fast and easily Covid spread back in March, how would you feel being in a building with hundreds of other people? The safety standards of BC schools is minimal, all they say is to wash your hands and stay apart. They even said that PPE (masks and gloves) was ineffective in preventing COVID.

It is clear that the education system is flawed in the sense that students are often not cared for or neglected. Now they are removing our right to want a safe environment to learn in. Distance learning has  already been implemented before with success there is no reason to discontinue it other then for the district to get funding for schools.

We as students have never had choice in what we want in an education, our opinions have never been heard or respected. If we can force their hand on this issue we will be able to change education much more in the future for the betterment of the students, not the school.
