Implement education on Special Needs students into BC curriculum

My name is Emma Messner, and I'm currently in grade 12. I am a student who has been tested for both Autism Spectrum Disorder and Asperger's Syndrome many times throughout my life, and I believe that if we were to implement education on Autism and Asperger's, it would benefit all the kids and adults who end up doing undiagnosed for almost their entire lives. This will be vital to those people because it will help them get the support they need, and it will help kids who are in school still to get that support to help them succeed and to help end the bullying caused by the lack of education on these two subjects. Even though these people are different, not all of them are "dumb". Some are completely brilliant, actually.

After looking at both the old and new curriculum in British Columbia, I have learned that both don't have any education whatsoever on Autism Spectrum Disorder or how to interact with a person who is on the spectrum. This upsets me deeply, as you learn about mental health in schools, but Autism is never taught anywhere, except if you were to major in an Education Assistant or a similar occupation.

This would mean the world to me if you signed, and shared this because we need to have more information in all kinds of schools; elementary, secondary, private, and public schools.

Thank you so much!
