Republican legislators in Michigan have put unelected autocrats in charge of Pontiac and other Michigan towns in place of locally elected leaders, using the states "Emergency Financial Management Law". All of the local leaders chosen by the people living in these towns have had their power completely stripped away and given to this "Emergency Financial Manager," with no accountability to the people being governed. In short, democracy has been completely suspended in that town. Every Republican I've talked to about this agrees Michigan's leaders have gone too far, and I'd like to think the same would true for most Republicans nationwide. For this reason, Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, should issue a statement condemning Michigan's leaders for doing this to show the nation that the GOP and its leadership does not support this kind of anti-democratic governance.
