Fix Frenchs Forest Traffic Chaos

The vital and necessary roadworks for the new Northern Beaches hospital in Frenchs Forest have caused absolute traffic chaos causing havoc to parents, workers, students and bus services. Measures should have been put in place to relief traffic during the period of roadworks before they commenced.

We can not put up with this for the next 12 months. RMS & TfNSW should work together in promoting drivers to use alternative routes, extended clearways along Warringah Rd (between Forestville & Skyline Shops) and a temporary (during the roadworks) T3 lane on Warringah Rd (between Forestville & Skyline Shops) during peak hours. This T3 lane would allow bus (incl. school bus) services to run smoothly, reliably and efficiently, encouraging public transport use (helping to reduce congestion). It would also encourage motorists to carpool and not add to the congestion.

Public transport should always be made the priority!

Surely this would be inexpensive and effective. The positives would outweigh the negatives. Easing traffic has greater indirect benefits (not mentioned above) to the local and wider community including economic productivity and environmental benefits.

An additional idea includes rolling out extended clearways (during peak) along Forest Way and adding a T3 lane during peak hours on Forest Way in the few kms leading up to the intersection with Warringah Rd.

I'm calling on the community to voice this idea to their local government representatives and RMS & TfNSW to at least consider this idea and/or any other measures to relief traffic during this necessary and crucial roadworks. Any small step can make a huge difference!
