Provide Bus Transportation for Elk Run Neighborhoods

Students in the Elk Run Neighborhoods recently had their school transportation taken from them. This means that all students in these neighborhoods must walk over a mile to and from school each day on an unsafe walking route that was developed without the input from the parents of the children impacted by this decision. We are fighting to have our transportation restored for our children’s safety.
We, as parents of Glacier Park Elementary School, were invited to a meeting to discuss the "Safe Walk Area" that has been put in place and were repeatedly told that the law stated that a walk route, by law, was measured flight of bird. It is stated in the laws over 10 individual times that a Walk Area is defined as: "the area around a school where the shortest safe walking route to school is less than one mile" (WAC 392-141-310 Definitions).
This misrepresentation and misuse of the law was not acceptable and we feel as though we were being manipulated into allowing our 5-11 year olds to walk an unsafe route to school on a daily basis.
Please sign and support us as we fight to provide a safe route to school for our children
We also have a physical petition that I have been walking door to door with that currently has over 80 signatures! We are well on our way to showing we will not accept this for our children!
