The Riverview School District is currently requiring students to wear masks all day inside and outside unless they are eating for the 2021-2022 school year. As the science and data continues to change, parents deserve to have a choice in whether to mask or unmask their children at school.

Governor Whitmer and MDHHS have recommended that students continue to wear masks next school year. However, this is purely a recommendation and school districts are able to decide what is best for their students and families.  

Southgate is one district in our area that has made masks optional for families for the fall. Gibraltar Schools have made masks optional for their summer program. Woodhaven Brownstown School District has made masks required inside but optional when students are outside for their summer program. More information regarding local school districts will be posted when they have released their plans the fall.
