Hi folks!  We NEED YOUR HELP!  Can you please sign and share this petition to #supportriversidebreastfeedingclinic?

The issue: Riverside Community Hospital (RCH) has decided to re-evaluate and limit the Riverside Breastfeeding Clinic’s services. On Monday, 4/24/2017, RCH administration posted a flyer proclaiming, “The Breastfeeding Clinic will be open by appointment only beginning June 1st; we apologize for the inconvenience we will only be making appointments for patients that have delivered at Riverside Community Hospital.” This action would restrict the clinic from walk-in to appointment only and would also make it available only for folks who birth at RCH.  They took the sign down almost immediately due to an overwhelming response from the public!  Way to go, team! After days of seeking a statement from RCH's administration, we were given an official statement from RCH's Vice President in Marketing and Communications, Cherie Crutcher, who writes, “At this time, Riverside Community Hospital is focusing on offering lactation services to our patients. In order to continue to serve the community, we will have the clinic open by appointment only on Monday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m for the public. We are currently working on a long-term solution to continue offering these services to the general public.  Our goal is to continue to provide a very supportive environment for our patients and the mothers of our community.”

These changes are effective June 1st: no more walk-ins, limiting days open from three to two, and only one lactation consultant to serve our entire community!

We all know that the Breastfeeding Clinic puts the “community” into Riverside Community Hospital. Removing the walk-in option, limiting open hours, and reducing lactation staff will have a detrimental impact on the health of Riverside families and folks throughout the Inland Empire and Southern California who travel great distances to receive these free services.  For 16 years Riverside Breastfeeding Clinic has been a vital and necessary resource for our community. We need to take a stand and raise our voices to advocate for continuing to keep this invaluable resource available to our community!
