Glen Ivy Spa and Resort located in Corona California opened to the public during the pandemic on the date of June 22nd, 2020. COVID-19 cases have been on the rise in the United States. In Riverside County specifically, cases have gone up to 17,296 to date. Although it is not a big resort, there is not enough space to safely social distance, and many workers and guests are being put at risk. Health Officials, like the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci are predicting that things will only get worse if we are not cautious.

Riverside County ICU's are currently at 90% capacity with things getting worse. It would be incredibly irresponsible to continue to leave Glen Ivy open, especially since people from around the world visit. The resort itself is not built to safely prevent everyone from getting sick. Pools are being shared and both employees and guests are in close capacity to each other during treatments. Guests are required to wear masks during treatments and while they're inside but are not required to wear them when they're lounging outside. Many guests opt to not wear them when it is not required at the resort.

There is a confirmed COVID-19 case at Glen Ivy already, and it would be wise to keep it at one by temporarily closing the resort until we are able to get the pandemic under control. While the county and Glen Ivy Spa and Resort claim that their employee's and guest's safety is their utmost priority, if that were true, it would be  wise to reopen at a later date.
