We strongly believe that uniforms are dehumanizing to students. Not to mention they are expensive which not all students are able to afford. The finical aid options in place are unreliable and do not do much for students who cannot afford these conforming uniforms. Every student is required to have an ID and have no use for them. With IDs, Lamar staff can easily identify students and non-students if IDs are worn. Not to mention that if having uniforms are a security concern, it is much easier to buy a Lamar uniform than it is to get a lamar ID. All you have to do is ask a friend, or just walk up into the school store. These conforming uniforms are uncomfortable, and cause us students a lack of a way to express ourselves because we are forced to wear the same thing as everyone else. With free dress, we can be free to express ourselves, be comfortable, and with the implication of ID rules in the school, ultimately safer.
