Help small businesses survive coronavirus

The government have announced a range of measures to help people financially in this time of crisis.

They have created the JRS to keep employees afloat, SEISS to help the self-employed, but a huge number of people who operate as independent contractors, family businesses, and other small businesses are at risk of losing their livelihood. PSCs and small business owners with no employees other than their directors are at risk, and have been specifically excluded from the SEISS because of their financial structure. Because limited company directors often receive the majority of their pay as dividends they have little to none of the protection generously offered to people in similar situations who are self-employed.

I am petitioning the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Prime Minister to help PSC contractors and small business owners who employ only their directors by creating a support package that will help them in this time of need. They say we are in this together, and we all contribute through our taxes. Please do not exclude this significant number of hard working people who are, for all intents and purposes, self-employed.
