Right to Refuse Observation or Treatment by Medical Residents / Medical Students
Why this petition matters
You have the right to say no to who sees, and practices on your body. Not all medical practices or providers feel that way, and will refuse you service if you don't submit to your body being used as a learning tool to practice on, and observe.
Particularly in the case of obstetrics and gynecology, women deserve to preserve the right to their bodily autonomy. Residents and medical students should not have a right to seeing you, and being included in your medical care without consent. They surely should not have the right to view your naked body, and to insert themselves in you. In any other context this would be considered as sexual assault, so why is it considered the right of the resident or medical student? What about your rights, as a patient?
I am petitioning to expand the patient bill of rights to include the right to refuse medical students and residents from practicing on or observing you as a patient, particularly when regarding intimate medical procedures or examinations involving nudity.
