Ben Jmin Schöbs started this petition to Ridgeway Academy and

Children across the country are going all day without using the toilet facilities at school, or they are having to hold for 1-2 hours not being able to due to teachers refusing them to leave the lesson unless they have a toilet pass or medical reasons.

this hugely concerns me due to the unhealthy nature these actions have on our children long term! For whatever reason no one should be refused toilet access, it is inhuman and not just physically damaging but possibly mentally. Given the circumstances this world is in at the moment the least negative impact on our children’s mental health the better!
so I’m asking for a review on how this is governed and what changes can be made to ensure our children are being cared for whilst not in our immediate care. We entrust our children’s safety to the school 5 days a week and we expect them to be cared for with the highest standards.

I’ve heard from one parent their child does not drink before and during school because of this and the impact it’s had on them from a young age! This is extremely dangerous as hydration is vital for our children’s growth and well being. It’s proven that a substantial amount of food and drink before and during school is highly effective for there concentration and learning ( hence the introduction of water bottles ).
Ive instructed my child to just get up and leave if this happens again regardless of the punishments, I’d rather sit in meetings with teachers about why my child isn’t attending detentions than my child being uncomfortable and potentially damaging themselves due to the teachers inability to understand the detriment of their actions.
I urge any parent that is worried for their child’s well being to come forward and help make a difference for our children’s future.
