Deja Fernandez started this petition to Ridgefield Memorial High School

We, the students of Ridgefield Memorial Highschool, are devastated to hear there will only be two fans allowed per player on the team. On September 2nd, a tropical storm hit our school like many others, but this storm caused our gymnasium floor to become wrecked to the point where it was unsafe for anyone to be able to do or play anything in the area. This has affected the basketball team's first month of home games and in result always having to travel away for the games. After six long months, our gym floor is fully repaired and ready for students to play on it once more. All the students and basketball players are excited for home games to have fellow classmates come to and support but, the excitement was quickly shut down when each player is restricted to only two people to bring as fans. Throughout high school, the major element that gets students hyped up with school spirit is the home games. In the past two years, fans were not even an option due to the timing of the pandemic leaving everyone to watch the home games online. Missing out on the rush that people get to cheer for their school’s team players in person. In times of isolation and confinement, it would be in the best interest to allow anyone to come together and enjoy the moments that can be cherished in these games instead of being stuck home. Also, while on school grounds, masks remain on and no food is allowed to keep everyone at the games safe and continue to enjoy themselves.
