Violet Beets started this petition to Richland County School District One

In previous years, after-school playtime at the Rosewood Elementary playground has been a great opportunity for our children to play, be active, learn, and be in community with students of all grades. It has also served as a community building space for parents/guardians of the school. However, operational signage now being enforced this school year (2019-2020) prohibits after-school playtime on the playground. By denying access to the school playground, this change deprives students and their families the opportunity to experience positive and inclusive interactions in a space that is shared by everyone at the school. We request an amendment to this policy as it is conveyed on the trespassing/loitering signage currently posted on school grounds. Specifically, we request that students attending Rosewood Elementary and their siblings under the supervision of a parent/guardian/caregiver be granted access to the school playground for one hour immediately following school dismissal or until the grounds are needed by on-site after-school programming that pays for use of the facility.
